GW-INSTEK GPT-12002
The GW-INSTEK GPT-12002 is an electrical safety analyzer instrument for testing insulation and withstand voltage. In practice, it is used to check whether a product can withstand high voltage without breakdown or unwanted leakage current. This is precisely the type of measurement needed in electronics production and for final testing of equipment where safety must be documented.
The instrument belongs to the GPT-12000 series and combines AC and DC withstand in the same unit. The AC test goes up to 5,000 kV, while the DC test goes up to 6,000 kV. In addition, it can measure insulation resistance with the voltage ranges specified in the specifications. The screen is a 7” color LCD, allowing setup and readout to be handled directly on the instrument.
When testing high-voltage products, it is important that the measurement can be precisely controlled. Here, the GPT-12002 has features such as true RMS AC-current measurement, ARC detect, controlled ramp-up and ramp-down, and timer functions. This makes it easier to run repeated test sequences in a consistent manner. The maximum short-circuit current is specified as 10 mA, and the standard interfaces include RS-232C, USB host/device, and Signal I/O. There is also a rear output, while GPIB or LAN can be obtained as an option.
The front connection and memory functions make it suitable when multiple test sequences need to be saved and reused in a professional test setup.
